I love a good takeaway especially a spice bag or anything salt & chilli from the takeaway. I’m a self-confessed junk food addict, everyone knows it! I decided I needed to learn how to make my own takeaways or ‘fakeaways’ as they call them so I could have it whenever I want and not spend a fortune while knowing what’s in it. So here’s my version of everyone’s fave, the spice bag.
Ingredients for Homemade Spice Bag
Chicken fillets cut into cubes (550g)
Smash or any instant mash
Chilli powder (1 level teaspoon)
Cayenne Pepper (1level teaspoon)
Chopped chilli (fresh or frozen)
I set up a little station first with my chicken and tongs on one plate. Beaten eggs in a bowl beside it. Then another bowl with the instant mash and spices (cayenne and chilli) mixed in. Finally, next to that I’ve the pan (or wok, it makes the chicken much crispier!) hot with oil and ready to go.
Once I’ve all the chicken coated and transferred into the pan I add the garlic, let it all cook and get crispy
If you like the onions and chilli to still have a bite add them add them at the very end when the chicken is thoroughly cooked so they will still have a crunch. If not you can add them while the chicken is still cooking.I accidently did this once and it all kind of stuck to the chicken, kinda soggy, but if you like it like that go ahead, still all tastes the same 😉
That’s it really. You can have it with chips and curry sauce. Or if you want to get veggies in you can have it with carrot or sweet potato chips. Delicious I promise and such a quick meal.
Let me know if you try it and what you think!
