Earth Day 2017! Celebrate & Educate with Netflix! #streamteam

Happy Earth Day! I love documentaries about food and life on earth so I thought I’d share some interesting Netflix documentaries. I’ve already watched some of these, mainly the food ones and they opened my eyes to the food industry big time. I’m going to tr to watch some of the other recommendations from this list Netflix sent me. Our Earth is precious, we only have one and I think it’s important we understand more about it and how our actions have consequences.

Planet Earth

This landmark series transports nature lovers from the Himalayan Mountains to the depths of the ocean and everywhere in between. It’s a BBC series too so no doubt this will be a good watch.

A Plastic Ocean

I hear about plastic being so dangerous to sea creatures but I haven’t really explored it much so this looks like a good place to learn more about it.
This is an adventure documentary shot on more than 20 locations over the past 4 years. Explorers Craig Leeson and Tanya Streeter and a team of international scientists reveal the causes and consequences of plastic pollution and share solutions

Mission Blue

This documentary follows Oceanographer Sylvia Earle’s campaign to save the world’s oceans from threats such as overfishing and toxic waste.

Chasing Ice

Acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog was once a sceptic about climate change and a cynic about the nature of academic research. But through his Extreme Ice Survey, he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In Chasing Ice, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. Travelling with a team of young adventurers across the brutal Arctic, Balog risks his career and his well-being in pursuit of the biggest story facing humanity. As the debate polarizes America, and the intensity of natural disasters ramps up globally, Chasing Ice depicts a heroic photojournalist on a mission to deliver fragile hope to our carbon- powered planet.

Cowspiracy

COWSPIRACY: The Sustainability Secret (http://www.cowspiracy.com) is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following an intrepid filmmaker as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today, and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organisations are too afraid to talk about it. I’ve watched similar documentaries about the meat industry and they are tough to watch but necessary if you eat meat. I’m not vegan but I’ve been tryignt o cut down on meat since since documentaries like this.

Food Choices

If you’re into food and nutrition or want to know more this is a must see. This ground-breaking documentary explores the impact that food choices have on people’s health, the health of our planet and on the lives of other living species. And also discusses several misconceptions about food and diet.food choices documentary netflix earth day

If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front

If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front is the remarkable story of the group’s rise and fall, told through the transformation and radicalization of one of its members, Daniel McGowan.
